David | Week 2: Trusting God's Process

Image
Westside Family Church David | Week 2: Trusting God's Process Pastor: Jonathan Hansen Trusting God's Process Notes:  What do you do when the life you're living doesn't look like the life you expected? The life you imagined? Here's the big idea: You don't have to understand God's process to trust God’s character. (His goodness for your life) 1. Surrender Your Plans to God's Purposes So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the LORD came powerfully upon David. 1 Samuel 16:13 The calling comes in a moment. The process takes years. Notes:  Now the Spirit of the Lord had departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord tormented him. Saul’s attendants said to him, “See, an evil spirit from God is tormenting you. Let our lord command his servants here to search for someone who can play the lyre. He will play when the evil spirit from God comes on you, and you will feel better.” So S...

David | Week 1: After God's Own Heart

Image
Westside Family Church David | Week 1: After God's Own Heart Pastor: Ethan Vanc e from  Tulsa, Oklahoma God doesn't make mistakes, he makes points 1 Samuel Chapter 13:14 The answer is always inside out! David is a shepherd. David has 7 older brothers. Samuel goes to Jessie's house.   What does it mean to be a person "after God's own heart"? God wants to regenerate a new heart.  Is to have a heart after God. Tada! End aimed at - the goal is to which anything tends. Always moving in the direction of God! I press on toward the goal (toward is "after" ). Towards = Kata! Tada! Direction > Perfection (Direction is better than perfection) Saul goes on to a detour.  David goes BACK! God doesn't abandon His people! Proverbs 4:18 But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until the full day. Your journey of trying and failing, all through scripture.   The Principle of Priority Something has to go first pr...

2026.10.04 Sermon: Together As (One)

Image
Westside Family Church Together As (One) Pastor: Jonathan Hansen Notes:  Big Idea: You can't become who Jesus is calling you to be by yourself. God never designed you to grow up spiritually by yourself. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God's Son that we will be mature in the Lord…Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won't be tossed and blown about by every wind… Ephesians 4:13–14 (NLT) Notes:  1. WE GATHER TO PUT GOD BACK AT THE CENTER Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel (Your people) Psalm 22:3 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. Colossians 3:15-16 We don't walk in here on Sunday untouched by the week. We walk in ...

2026.09.26-7 Sermon: Who's Your (One)

Image
Westside Family Church Who's Your (One) Pastor: Dan Deeble 4 “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.  Luke 15:4-7 1. Jesus tells His Church: You are stakeholders with me in this venture. Notes:  8 “Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? 9 And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’ 10 In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in ...

2026.09.20 Sermon: Jesus is for Every(one)

Image
Westside Family Church Jesus is for Every(One) Pastor: Jonathan Hansen Notes:    Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes. Romans 1:16 How is this Happening? Gospel planting. Community development. Caring for vulnerable children. One of the things I always pray for is the opportunity, God willing, to come at last to see you. For I long to visit you so I can bring you some spiritual gift that will help you grow strong in the Lord. When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours. Romans ...

2026.08.30 Sermon: Rival Gods

Image
Westside Family Church Rival Gods Pastor: Jonathan Hansen Notes:  Jesus talks about money more than anything else: our heart, forgiveness, heaven/hell, etc. Money is a heart issue!  He wants us to see that everything in our lives flows from our hearts. Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy , your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad , your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. Matthew 6:19–24 Matthew 4:17: N...

2026.07.26 Sermon Notes: From 'It' To 'Thou'

Image
Westside Family Church Summer on the Mount   Week 2: From 'It' To 'Thou' Pastor Dan Deeble 21 “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ (aramaic term: idiot) is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell. 23 “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift. 25 “Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still together on the way, or your adversary may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be ...
