Acts 4:1-22

"Courage is not the absence of fear but the resolve to press forward in spite of it."

  • Peter and John lived  courageous lives. Stephen, Paul, Annanias (Chapter 9) - different Annanias.
  • Witnessing in Jerusalem
    • Peter and John were put in jail.

  • Acts 1:8 <--MEMORIZE
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
1. Courage is only necessary where fear is present.

Fear is the adversary's most used tactic.

Courage is not the absence of fear but the resolve to press forward in spite of it!

Fear is a paralyzing force.

Where there is no risk, there is no need for courage.

Fear kills far more dreams than failure has.

2 Timothy 27:1:
for God gave us a spirit and not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

Psalm 27:1

2. The greatest threat to us living courageous lives is our love of comfort.

Comfort chokes out courage over life.
God has a mission for us.

Acts 1:8 - all disciples for Jesus

It takes courage to stand for Christ, go on a mission, share the gospel with your neighbor, admit when you're wrong, generous with finances

Courage doesn't come from looking inward, it comes from looking upward!

Courage is to be both seen and heard! Live courageously. Speak courageously.

3. Courage is to be both seen and heard! Live courageously. Speak courageously.

Gospel is meant to portrayed by our lives

The Gospel is GOOD NEWS to share.

Live out the gospel and share the gospel.

4. Courage doesn’t come from looking inward, it comes from looking upward.

Not a personality trait!

What step of courage would you take if Jesus was with you?

Matthew 5:16
Isaiah 41:10
Joshua 1:8-9

5. Common People with Courageous Faith are confident in how the story ends.

Acts 5:37-39

Ephesians 1:13
